Ireland’s leading provider of wealth management, The Davy Group, has today announced a two year sponsorship agreement with Irish golf sensation Paul Dunne. Widely viewed as one of the most exciting young golfers of the modern generation, the 23-year-old has captured the hearts and imagination of the golfing world. Most notably by his performance at the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews, where he led after 54 holes, the youngest amateur in 88 years to do so.
Davy saw a natural fit with Dunne who is a very talented and ambitious young Irishman. The partnership will see Dunne wear the Davy Group logo on his clothing, and they will work closely together, including Davy helping Paul look at his future financial planning needs as he starts on what we all hope will be a successful career as a professional golfer.
Brian McKiernan, CEO of the Davy Group commented, "For over 90 years Davy has consistently invested in talent and ambition to deliver the best results for our clients. As an Irish owned business we are delighted to support Paul as he begins his journey to compete with the best golfers in the world and continue a proud tradition of Irish golfing success".
In recent months since making the transition into the Professional ranks, Dunne has already produced some exciting results. In his first event as a Pro he led the Dunhill Links after day 1, and finished in the top 20. He followed this up with good performances in both the British and Portugal Masters, before progressing through each stage of European Tour Qualifying school to gain his full playing rights for the 2016 season. Having already started his rookie year with starts in South Africa and Australia, Paul heads back to South Africa in early January to continue his European Tour journey. Speaking about the new partnership Paul said, "I am really excited to have The Davy Group supporting me as I embark on my European Tour career. It’s great to be associated with a Dublin based company, and I look forward to working with them in the months ahead. I hope I can give the company some great exposure as I compete around the World".
