Faster pricing for rate cuts after tariffs-induced selloff

Key economic data releases this week include UK GDP for February and the US University of Michigan flash consumer sentiment index for April. While market pricing has moved in the direction of faster rate cuts in response to last week’s tariffs announcements by President Trump, the Federal Reserve and other central banks will be concerned about rising consumer inflation expectations. As we have noted of late, stagflation can result in contrasting priorities for central bank mandates.
