Politics tracker: Leo’s exit alters little on election timing

DAVY VIEW

A new Taoiseach (Prime Minister) should not materially change the prevailing political dynamics in Ireland. The immediate focus across the political spectrum will be European and local elections, then moving to the 2025 Budget process and delivery on key priorities. All this continues to point towards a window from late-autumn/early-winter through to end-March 2025. Polling data have not shown material changes since we issued our first Politics tracker in February, reinforcing the rising tide of independent and smaller parties. An updated version of our Politics tracker can be downloaded here.
