The Central Bank of Ireland’s (CBI) report on the impact of non-bank lenders in the mortgage market is consistent with our findings across a number of reports. Non-bank lenders have grown in importance and will likely grow further given the exits of two lenders. The CBI previously flagged that it may look at the macro-prudential framework for non-bank lenders – this report stops short on recommendations, but it is possible that it will be covered in the CBI’s overall review of the macro-prudential framework, which is due to be completed during 2022.
