The Irish mortgage market continues to undergo significant structural change. The rise of non-bank lenders, together with the increasing role of intermediaries, results in a new lending market that will continue to be competitive – in line with our expectations for the market. Non-bank lenders expanded significantly during 2021 and also innovated in terms of products on offer. On an overall basis, increased new lending and growth in stock (for the first time since 2008) should offset the competitive dynamics.
