Ireland’s labour market in rude health

Irish Revenue data on pay-rolled employees, buoyant income tax receipts and falling social welfare claimants uniformly point to an exceptionally strong recovery in the Irish labour market. Today’s Labour Force Survey (LFS) for Q3 2021 should confirm Ireland’s unemployment rate falling towards 5% by end-October, benefitting from the re-opening of the economy during the summer but also showing underlying buoyant employment and pay growth.
