Ireland’s housing market set for cyclical-inflationary upturn

Our latest report highlights the growing pressure in the Irish housing market. House price inflation is likely to accelerate because of COVID-19 disruption to housing supply but government policies, such as the Help-to-Buy scheme, the equity loan scheme and the expanded budget for social housing provision, will add further stimulus, aimed at bringing forward supply. Amidst a growing gap between demand and supply and capacity pressures in the construction sector, the environment will likely be increasingly inflationary for both house prices and build costs.
