A first look over the ‘no-deal’ precipice

Irish government sources still believe an EU/UK trade deal is possible according to media, with Taoiseach Michael Martin appealing for compromise at last night's EU Council meeting. This comes amid tough talk from Boris Johnson that a 'no-deal' is a strong possibility, with the European Commission also announcing contingency plans. However, a deal/fudge could come later in December, with the EU already conceding that it can implement any agreement provisionally, pushing ratification in 2021.
