FBD's core business is insurance underwriting. With gross premiums of €370m, it is the third-largest non-life insurer in Ireland with a c.11% market share. The business is predominantly rural-focused with strong brand loyalty. It controls c.80% of the farm insurance market, and agriculture accounts for c.54% of total premiums. Urban markets, on-line offerings and the broker channel are growing segments. Non-insurance activities contribute c.10% of group operating activities through the resale of third-party liability and travel insurance as well as life, pension and wealth products for New Ireland.
