Company Profile
RBS has significantly reshaped its footprint post the financial crisis – from a brief position as the largest bank in the world by assets, RBS is now predominantly a UK-focussed bank. Through the shrinkage of non-core, overseas investment banking activities and by investment in technology, RBS is now a simpler bank. The work-through of legacy remediation matters has facilitated the return to dividend payments, and the de-risked bank and strong solvency allow the return of surplus capital and repayment to the UK taxpayer. A focus on cost and capital efficiency has improved the group earnings and returns profile, with the completion of its strategic investment programme to facilitate a step-up in earnings growth.
