Howdens has reported a solid start to the year, and we expect little change of note to headline full year estimates. The stock has fallen 12% since it announced 2024 results towards the end of February and is over 15% below where it was a year ago. A current year P/E multiple of just over 16x may not as such appear compelling value but should be considered in the context of Howdens’ proven quality and what are cyclically depressed earnings.
