CRH is a leading player in the global building materials markets. It has a diversified business in terms of product as well as geography. Approximately 40% of its business is in Europe with 45% in the US and the balance in emerging markets. Circa 60% of its business is in heavy side materials, i.e. cement and aggregates in Europe and aggregates and asphalt in the Americas. It also operates an extensive distribution business in both regions. It has a solid growth record, driven by a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. It also has one of the strongest balance sheets in the sector.
