AIB Group is one of Ireland's two largest banks with a total asset base of €97bn. The group offers a full retail and commercial banking service in Ireland, along with corporate lending and capital market activities. Deleveraging has significantly reduced the scale of its overseas operations; it retains its UK operations, comprising retail and commercial banking in Great Britain and First Trust Bank in Northern Ireland. Our 'Under Review' rating reflects the fact that the bank is effectively state-owned at present with only a small illiquid legacy free float outstanding (just under 0.1%).
