The newly-merged LafargeHolcim will create the global leader in cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete production. It will have cement production capacity of 386.5mt and an estimated 8.6% global market share. Excluding China, the group will have a c.23% global market share. The new combination neatly brings together Holcim's large exposure to Asia-Pacific and Latin America with Lafarge's footprint in Africa/Middle East to create a more balanced portfolio of businesses. The company will have 60% of sales in emerging markets but with no one country accounting for more than 10% of group sales. It is targeting run-rate synergies of CHF1.7bn phased over three years.
