Company Profile
With annual cement production capacity of approximately 41m tonnes, Buzzi Unicem is the world's sixth-largest cement producer. The group operates in ten countries on four continents and has a network of 39 cement plants, 5 grinding centres, 34 aggregates quarries and 557 concrete batching units. In addition, it has 41 terminals and deposits spread across Italy, Poland, Ukraine and the US. The group has its roots in two Italian materials producers - Buzzi Cementi, founded in 1907, and Unicem, founded in 1872. The current Buzzi Unicem was formed in September 1999 following the acquisition of Unicem by Buzzi Cementi. In June 2001, the group entered into an alliance with the Dyckerhoff family to acquire 34% of the German cement producer. Since then, Buzzi has raised its stake to 93% and the company was fully consolidated in 2004. Cement operations account for 63% of Buzzi Unicem group revenues with the remainder sourced primarily from its RMC and aggregates units.
