Fast fashion has sustained its irresistible growth in the UK across the COVID pandemic; likewise, Boohoo Group (BOO) has continued its march to market leadership. However, while BOO’s financial credentials remain intact, the emergence of major supply chain issues has materially damaged the equity thesis. The social conversation indicates a number of dynamics at play – BOO’s competitive resilience; the emergence of the omni-consumer; and the consumer perspective on all things ESG perhaps gives BOO time to get its house in order. We like the risk/return balance and initiate with an ‘Outperform’ rating and a price target of 399p.
