The core objectives of the ‘New Norwegian’ – a drastically smaller network, right-sized cost base and focus on ancillaries – make sense to us but will be merely academic should the company not be able to bridge the gap to its realisation. The task ahead – minimising cash-burn and resuming only the routes with positive contribution – will require strong execution, although the capital restructuring has eased shorter-term solvency concerns.
