Global markets succumb to coronavirus fears; MSCI AC World Index falls 0.7% in January

The MSCI AC World Index started 2020 on a negative note with a fall of 0.7% in January. The decline follows a run of four consecutive monthly gains and is largely attributable to concerns over the spread and impact of coronavirus. Developed markets dropped 0.3%, while emerging fell 3.3% with newsflow dominated by the virus.
