Information Systems

Our Information Systems team supports the complex technology requirements of a dynamic stockbroking and wealth management business.

Information Technology is critical to the business, particularly in areas of telecommunications, real-time trading systems and the Internet. To support the demands of the various departments, we operate and manage our own infrastructure - servers, telecommunications and desktops - whilst supporting a large in-house systems development group consisting of project managers, business analysts and developers. A dedicated web development team looks after Davy's website (www.davy.ie) and our Intranet.

We have our own in-house Data Centre where we directly manage over 100 Windows Servers, plus many Sun and IBM iSeries machines. A group of system engineers manage a private data network across the country in addition to our in-house LAN. Because our systems are critical to the operation of the company, we build in high levels of redundancy and resilience and are extensive users of clusters, failover and virtualization.

Some interesting statistics about IT @ Davy:-

  • Over 150 servers under management - Windows, Unix and iSeries
  • Over 500 desktops
  • More than 500,000 email messages a month
