Irish unemployment falls to 6.3%

DAVY VIEW

Unemployment data show that the rate fell to 6.3% in June from 6.4% in May. Total numbers unemployed continued to decline to a fresh cycle low of 139,400 – the lowest level since June 2008. The release suggests that the robust jobs growth of recent quarters has continued into Q2. Q1 2017 showed employment up 3.5% on the year; if sustained into Q2, we may have to revise up our 2.8% average forecast for 2017.
