CPI index signals price pressure ahead of Ireland’s re-opening

Yesterday’s CPI index showed inflation accelerating to 1.1% in April, signalling price pressures starting to build ahead of the economy re-opening, also due to disruption from Brexit and global price pressures. In addition, the CPI private rents index saw a sharp 1.2% rise in April, now back at pre-pandemic levels, indicating that annual rental inflation is now positive again at 1.4%.
