The threat from the Finance Committee to Ulster Bank is unlikely to result in legislation as it would most probably be unconstitutional. Meanwhile, allowing customers to transact services with An Post (Irish postal service) is a required step if Bank of Ireland (BOI) is to consider a material reduction in its branch network; AIB and Ulster Bank customers already access transaction services via the An Post network.
