Irish recovery moderates but housing market bucks the trend

Irish economic activity expanded at a sharp pace after the third phase of the government’s re-opening plan began on June 30th, easing restrictions on the retail and services sectors. Debit/credit card spending, falling unemployment claimants and Apple/Google mobility data indicate that the pace of recovery has eased in the past two weeks. However, the housing market has bucked the trend with transactions, new listings for sale and property searches from homebuyers hitting fresh (post-COVID-19) highs in July.
