Ireland's next general election will be on February 8th, with Fine Gael struggling in the polls – albeit perhaps in a better position now that Northern Ireland power institutions have been restored. The key issues for Ireland's economy are whether the political parties will choose to fritter away the €2.6bn surplus expected in 2020 on spending commitments or adopt populist policies regarding the housing market.
