The Central Bank of Ireland’s (CBI) research on the mortgage market does not give rise to any major surprises. The research follows recent comments from senior CBI officials who have indicated that additional leverage for borrowers is not an appropriate response to supply side constraints. Therefore, we do not anticipate any significant changes to the mortgage macroprudential rules in the forthcoming review.
