As the final 11:00 deadline for EU/UK negotiations approaches, the Irish and UK governments seem hopeful that a draft deal can be found. Reports suggest that Boris Johnson has conceded more ground, moving closer to the original Northern Ireland-only backstop. The next challenge will be passing any deal through the UK Parliament on Saturday October 19th as the Conservatives are well short of a majority and with efforts for a ‘confirmatory referendum’.
