This morning’s Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) survey indicates that the post March 29th bounce in UK housing market activity is coming to an end. The July readings suggest that Boris Johnson’s threat to leave the EU on October 31st ‘do-or-die’ has hurt sentiment. The price balance is now firmly back into negative territory (-9%), signalling that a majority of estate agents reported price falls. Agreed sales (-6%) and instructions to sell (-3%) are also starting to contract again.
