Political distractions have returned, with attempts to ban banks’ ability to transfer loans without prior consent of the borrower now going through the Dail (Irish Parliament). This is not the first proposal to inflict controls on the Irish banks and, like others, it is unlikely to become law; nevertheless, it does damage sentiment towards the banking sector.
