Irish RPPI inflation accelerates to 11.6%

Today’s Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) shows a sharp 1.4% gain in June. Annual inflation is now running at 11.6% – the fastest pace in two years. This marked acceleration in Irish house price inflation reflects underlying pressures from the robust economic recovery, accentuated by rising leverage on mortgage lending and raised expectations for price growth following the relaxation of the Central Bank mortgage lending rules and the announcement of the ‘Help-to-Buy’ scheme.
