Paradigm shift needed if Western companies are to grow in developing countries
If an outcome of the current Western debt crisis is an inexorable squeeze on, and contraction of, the middle classes, then imported value products (i.e. products of comparable quality but at a substantially lower price) may be the new market opportunity.
CPL Resources in strong position; no significant impact expected from EU directive on temporary agency work
We do not believe the current implementation of the Temporary Agency Work Act 2012, which was signed into Irish law on May 16th, should have any major impact on CPL. If anything, the increased requirement on recruitment companies should place pressure on smaller operators, potentially driving consolidation. As a leading recruiter in Ireland, we feel that CPL is well placed to benefit from any upturn in the market.
Retailing remains a key opportunity for airlines; Datalex well positioned to facilitate
The Datalex user conference, which was held in Dublin last week, was a frank and very open discussion about the travel experience and how best to serve the consumer. It was clear that the conversation has evolved from a discussion on the value of becoming a retailer to a discussion on the best practices of retail. Part of this evolution is driven by necessity, and Datalex is in a prime position to facilitate.
