Private Equity/Hedge Funds |
Private Equity
Private equity refers to the activity of investing in non-public companies through privately negotiated transactions.
The private equity asset class adds significantly to long-term portfolio performance. The profit focus of the private equity industry fits with our own view that performance to a benchmark is outdated. Our aim is to deliver returns throughout the investment cycle. Our private equity programme has resulted in the development of relationships with many of the key global players in the industry. This allows us to deliver a continuous stream of world-class investment opportunities for our clients.
Hedge Funds
Hedge funds can be distinguished from traditional mutual funds in a number of ways. First, they are generally privately offered funds and not open for investment to the general public. Second, they are normally permitted to use a wider range of investment techniques and financial instruments, such as leverage and short sales.
We think of the hedge fund industry as 'modern investment management', where profit is the goal, benchmarks are no longer relevant and investment tactics can be quickly adapted to suit any given investment environment. The hedge fund industry has a complex range of investment strategies and there are thousands of funds to choose from, making comparison difficult. Our programme aims to identify managers with experienced teams, a clear risk management process and a sustainable track record.
